About the author
From Baku to Minnesota
Rustam Musevi was born and raised in Baku during the final years of the Soviet Union and Azerbaijan’s emergence as an independent nation. He graduated from dental school in Azerbaijan and immigrated to the United States two years later.
He later served in the U.S. Army and continued his education in Minnesota at the University of Minnesota and Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. His work as an educator, researcher, author, and publisher draws on culture, migration, public affairs, travel, and lived experience. The Country I Promised Youis his first novel.
